Masakazu Fukuda

After eleven years leading character design and main graphics at a Japanese game studio, Masakazu Fukuda went freelance and joined the Pokémon TCG with Meowth, Persian and Tauros in EX FireRed & LeafGreen. His self-described style — cute, colourful, vibrant — is built around bold colour choices and exaggerated angles, and he illustrated every Pokémon ☆ card in the game, a particularly distinctive sub-line of his catalogue. Off-the-clock he is a Lugia fan, a keen motorcyclist and wide-angle photographer, and a self-confessed mecha enthusiast whose influences include Hajime Katoki, Katsuhiro Otomo, Masamune Shirow and Akira Toriyama.
